Choosing Your Digital Agency
Jul 31
After taking the decision to develop your online presence, you have to start thinking about finding the right digital agency. As far as online goes, a digital agency can meet all your needs. Whilst some agencies might specialise in only web design or only web marketing, most are what we call full service digital agencies. A full service digital agency has all the necessary knowledge and talent to manage everything concerning online strategy. This means that everything from the design and development of your website, to the online marketing can be managed by one company. This allows for a good deal of time and money to be saved and avoids crossed wires.
When it comes to selecting your digital agency, perhaps the biggest factor will be your budget. Try not to think of what you’re willing to spend, but rather what you are able to invest. Many of the best known traditional advertising agencies now include their own digital agency. Whilst these are very reputable, experience and expertise can just as easily be found in smaller agencies.
It’s important to ask a digital agency about what they can offer you. If budget is tight it is always worth asking to see some measurable return on investment. In cases where web marketing has been used, this is much simpler. The increase in website traffic and the associated increase in e-commerce sales are countable and speak for themselves.
It is also a good idea to research a digital agency’s existing client list and portfolio of work. An agency which has experience of successfully producing sites with similar functionality as your own is likely to be a good choice. Similarly, find out the name of the digital agency which made a website you admire. You’ll usually find a link to the digital agency at the bottom of the site or in the resources section.
Searching online for a digital agency is obviously a good idea too. But be aware of one that doesn’t rank to well in the search engines as this is sure to be a reflection of their web marketing ability. Also if a digital agency has an unattractive site or one that is hard to navigate, you should avoid them.
Lastly, consider submitting your requirements to a tender website. Having seen your requirements, digital agencies will be able to submit their proposals and you may just find that an agency you hadn’t considered has a wonderful idea.
